2/13 Postgame: Rangers defeat Penguins 5-3

The New York Rangers Celebrate Victory Over The Pittsburgh Penguins At Madison Square Garden On February 13, 2011 In

The Rangers finally ended their losing skid tonight against the battered Penguins in a game which essentially could be looked at as a microcosm of their season. They came out flat, which seems to be getting old real quick, and it resulted in them going down two goals five minutes into the first frame.

Lucky enough for the Rangers, Brian Boyle was able to redirect a puck and find the back of the net almost immediately following Pittsburgh's second goal. The powerplay finally woke up, and with it, Ryan Callahan. His powerplay goal led the Rangers into the second tied 2-2.

Before the Rangers banged in two more powerplay goals, Vinny Prospal buried one home in front off a beauty of a pass from Brandon Dubinsky. Callahan and Anisimov then added their tallies before Brett Sterling scored a shitty goal on Lundqvist in the third to round out the scoring at 5-3.

Bottomline: Rangers came out flat once again but were able to erase the margin thanks to a powerplay in which we saw Wolski manning then point. The Rangers still struggled defensively, and per usual, Lundqvist was weak. The major plus was the fact that the Rangers had finally buried a fair amount of goals, with the majority of them being on the powerplay.

I want the postgames to be more of discussion, so please, tell us what you thought of the game.
