2/17 Pregame: Los Angeles Kings Vs New York Rangers

New York Rangers 30-24-4 64 points 7th in East
Los Angeles Kings 32-22-3 67 points 9th in West

Another big game at the Garden tonight as the Rangers look to build off their 5-3 victory over an extremely hot Los Angeles Kings team. Don't be fooled by the Kings being in 9th place as the West is very competitive. The Kings are in 5th place in the Pacific division, but are only 2 points out of the division lead.

With only 24 games remaining in the regular season, it goes without saying that the Rangers must take the 2 points tonight, and this will be no easy task against a Kings team that has come away with points in 10 straight (8-0-2). The Kings have been able to get it done without the production of one of the most talented centers in the game, as Anze Kopitar has only 2 goals in his last 22 games.

The Rangers should have the edge in net tonight. This is assuming of course that the king is the king. Henrik Lundqvist will be between the pipes tonight looking down at Jonathan Bernier 200ft away. Lundqvist has been very shaky of late, and will need to be back in playoff form tonight against a very skilled Kings team.

The Kings come into the Garden after a hard fought battle with the Columbus Blue Jackets, where they came away with the Win in the shootout. The Rangers will need to avoid that usual slow start or this game could be over before it even begins. If they can come out with a high energy game, it is very likely they will give the 9th place Kings a run for their money.
