Flyers bring in Versteeg, making push for Cup

Well, as if the Flyers needed any more offensive firepower, they have now brought in Kris Versteeg from the Toronto Maple Leafs in exchange for a first and third round pick in next years draft.

Kris Versteeg - Toronto Maple Leafs v Philadelphia Flyers

Versteeg now in his 4th NHL season was on the Stanley Cup winning Chicago Blackhawks last season. He had 14 points in last seasons cup run while playing with a talented Blackhawk offense, and now has a chance to find a way back into the finals with the Flyers run and gun offense. Versteeg currently has 35 points in 53 games, but should have no trouble producing with all the offensive talent the Flyers can put around him. He should add some playoff experience to a very young Flyer team.

Fuck the god damn Flyers. Honestly, this trade doesn't make that much of a difference for an already offensively superb team. But to bring in the 24 year old in exchange for a 1st adn 3rd rounder? Like they need those picks. Fuck the Flyers.

What's this mean? Versteeg is only 24, so my guess is they are getting ready to really unload one of their young talented players (Ville Leino or James VanRymsdyk maybe) for a goalie. Keep an eye out for Vokoun or Giguiere to be on the move to the Flyers...

  1. Versteeg should end up in more of a 3rd line defensive role. He adds depth to the best offense in the league but I think the Flyers gave up way too much for him. A 1st and a 3rd? Please, the guy is worth maybe a 2nd. Just goes to show you the Flyers are all in this year and you can't really blame them.

  2. This is going to mess up everyone's value on the trade market. If a guy like versteeg is worth a 1st and a 3rd what's gaborik worth?

    Flyers need goaltending
